    Primary responsibilities involve analyzing and reporting on the Company’s financial and operational performance. This position supports the Accounting staff and coordinates the fixed asset accounting for all InterChange Group entities. Specific responsibilities include writing and maintaining reports, preparing, and recording fixed asset and depreciation journal entries, budget preparation and analysis, and fuel and property tax reporting.

    WORK HOURS:  8:00am to 5:00pm Monday - Friday


    Financial Analysis Responsibilities:

    • Present the Warehouse Operations Report monthly, summarizing profitability at each of our facility locations by business function, while analyzing trends and answering any questions from managers.
    • Prepare and disseminate sales reporting monthly including a detailed write up of sales data results/trends.
    • Present monthly the Express division dashboard, which summarizes monthly activities from our trucking division, calling attention to data trends and KPIs.
    • Consult with department leads to assist with periodic meetings to compile/analyze/present data contained in various monthly reports and answer any pertinent questions.
    • Construct and present financial statements to InterChange management and ownership team monthly/quarterly as necessary. Explain any data inconsistencies, trends, assist with questions regarding information within report.
    • Write ad hoc JetReports as requested. These reports are an integral part of the daily operations, as well as a direct service to customers of the company. Requests can be both urgent and long term in nature. Works with end users on ongoing basis to review usefulness and function of reports.
    • Maintain scheduled JetReports in conjunction with the IT Department- scheduled JetReports are an integral part of the business process. Reports must be scheduled on a separate server for daily/weekly/monthly distribution.

    Accounting Responsibilities:

    • Non-financial measures for Interchange- non-financial measures must be collected and uploaded into Navision each month in order to track business productivity. Management of these numbers involves coordination with other members of the accounting staff to collect and upload assigned values.
    • Understand and be able to back up key responsibilities of the Controller, Accounting Assistant, and Accounting Specialist.

    Fixed Asset Reporting Responsibilities:

    • Work with managers to prepare AFE’s (Authorization for Expenditure) to make the business case for large capital expenditures or outlining assumptions for other major business decisions. The AFE typically includes an analysis of the estimated years to pay back the capital outlay as well as other financial return metrics.
    • Maintain the fixed asset/depreciation software- track capital projects and enter fixed asset additions and disposals into the fixed asset software. Record monthly depreciation journal entries in the general ledger.
    • Perform reconciliations to ensure that the fixed asset software is in alignment with the general ledger for all business entities.
    • Prepare and file personal property tax and business license returns for each jurisdiction where reporting is required.

    Budget Responsibilities:

    • Budgeting- assist Controller with yearly budget process by providing data, helping with uploads, and analyzing areas of focus within the company.

    Fuel Reporting Responsibilities:

    • Monthly fuel reporting must be completed for Interchange. Fuel data is downloaded from online sites and then reconciled by truck using the CarrierWeb online truck management system. Data is then uploaded into Navision.
    • Quarterly IFTA tax reporting is compiled and sent to our Express division brokers for processing.
    • Daily fuel price reporting is done from both emails and online sources, recording the current day’s fuel price for Harrisonburg, Suffolk, and Virginia as a whole.



    1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Business preferred
    2. Minimum three years’ experience in a financial analyst or accounting position
    3. Strong verbal and written communication skills
    4. Ability to work independently
    5. Attention to detail, with ability to work efficiently and accurately
    6. Ability to multitask when necessary
    7. Strong organizational skills required
    8. Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
    9. Understands acceptable accounting practices
    10. Computer proficient, including knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).  Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics a plus
