    Getting Involved In YOUR Chamber

    Getting Involved in YOUR Chamber

This is the third of three introductory communications I promised you over the last three weeks.

First you were introduced to our new investment structure. It has been incredibly well received. If you haven’t set up an appointment with Hannah to review the levels, make sure you do! Second, I outlined our new committee structure at https://www.augustava.com/committees/. We are signing up members everyday to help with this work. There are so many wonderful ways to get into a leadership role with YOUR Chamber through engaging in the work of committees. This week I wanted to connect you with our programs and events. We will continue with some of the tried and true programs and events that you have come to know and love, but we are also rolling out some new opportunities that we believe cast a broader net.

    Networking

Business After Hours is a staple, but we know there are lots of people who want to go home to their families after hours. So, we’ve added Morning Brew, for the member who wants to network in the morning. The first Morning Brew is scheduled for October 17 from 8:00-9:00 am here at the Chamber office. Come join us for coffee and make some connections! Cocktails and Conversations is a fantastic speed networking event. We held it for the first time last month and the attendees walked away incredibly excited to have made real, personal contacts for their businesses.

    Education

In response to a request for some Chamber programming that would offer specific education and resources for business success, we’ve added Hot Topics for Business. This program will
launch early 2018 so look for more to come. Tech Tuesday is a great, hands on, session on different topics pertaining to current tech applications and tools for the technology area of your business. So many small businesses need help in this area. The class is limited to 15, you bring your laptop, we provide lunch and you get a facilitator walking around the room helping you become more tech savvy! October 3rd is the next Tech Tuesday, featuring E-N Computers focusing on “demystifying the cloud”. RSVP today!

    Advocacy

The Legislative Breakfast on December 20 is an example of an existing event that we are just taking up to another level. Definitely add that to your calendar, as an opportunity to hear from our Delegation about their priorities for the upcoming session. In 2018 you will see us ramp up advocacy activities. As the voice for business we have a responsibility to connect members to education on issues and to provide a direct link to elected officials who represent us. In the spring we will host a trip to Richmond during session and later in the year take a trip to DC to represent our region’s issues at the Capital. Stay tuned! These are really just a snapshot of some of the great things we have going on here at YOUR Chamber. For a comprehensive look at all programs and events, all the new additions and a refresher on ones you may already be familiar with, go to https://www.augustava.com/events/.  There are also multiple levels of sponsorship available for each item in this program of work. Be thinking about where you want to get involved AND where you may want to boost your brand through a Membership Plus plan. As always, don’t hesitate to give us a call if you have questions.

    Onward, Annette
