Linda Hershey

Linda Hershey

President and CEO

Linda Hershey is President & CEO of the Greater Augusta Regional Chamber of Commerce. She has been employed with the Chamber for over 14 years. She was previously involved in the hospitality industry in Roanoke; including Director of Sales & Marketing positions at Hotel Roanoke and Bernard’s Landing Resort. Linda is a 1975 graduate of Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia with a B.A. in Urban Affairs and a minor in Business Administration. She is also a graduate of the Virginia Association of Chamber Executives Institute and holds certifications from the  International Sales & Marketing Association and the Institute for Organizational Management through the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

She sits on the Board of Directors for the Virginia Chamber of Commerce Executives, and the Wanzchou Sister City Association. Her committee seats include the Mary Baldwin College- Business Advisory Council, Blue Ridge Community College- Workforce Investment and Education, Shenandoah Valley Partnership- Marketing, Central Shenandoah Planning District Commission- Fields of Gold and Leadership Greater Augusta- Education.

She is married to Burk Hershey, owner of Hershey Tire in Staunton, and has one son, Trey. She has three dogs, a Bernese Mountain, Golden Retriever, & a Basset Hound. She loves international traveling, gardening, yoga, Pilates and spinning classes.

Debbie Irwin

Debbie Irwin

Director of Programs & Special Events

Debbie Irwin is fairly new to the area and looks forward to learning more about the surrounding community. She received her B.B.A in Marketing from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA and also has a European Business Certification from the University of Antwerp in Belgium. Mrs. Irwin brings in-depth knowledge of social media and digital communication and has expertise in identifying emerging trends. She holds professional certifications from Google Analytics, AdWords, and Bing Ads. Prior to accepting the Chamber position, Debbie served as a Marketing Associate at ExploreLearning in Charlottesville where she worked with the E-Marketing team on social media content integration/expansion, analytics, and digital campaign optimization.

Debbie is originally from Lynchburg, Virginia and now resides with her husband and two dogs in Staunton. In her spare time, she enjoys outdoor activities like hiking, camping and hammocking.

Courtney Thompson

Courtney Thompson

Director of Community Development

Courtney Thompson is the Director of Community Development for GARCC, focusing on membership. Prior to joining the GARCC staff, she was a member of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Ambassador Corps. Courtney comes from a sixteen-year career in banking, with a focus on Business Development.

Courtney is a graduate of James Madison University, with a B.S. in Political Science. She also holds a General Banking Diploma, Bank Marketing Diploma and several other certifications from the Virginia Bankers Association. She is a 2014 graduate of the Leadership Greater Augusta program.

Courtney, her husband Phil and their son John Parker reside on a beautiful farm in Nelson County and stay busy with all their animals. She is also an active volunteer at her son’s school, Ridgeview Christian. In her spare time, Courtney enjoys reading, horseback riding and educating others about essential oils and how to lead a chemical-free lifestyle.

Donna Elkins

Donna Elkins

Office Admin

Donna Elkins is a native to the Valley and has been employed by the Chamber for 10 years.  She retired from her position as Vice President of Community Development in December, 2012, but returned on a part-time basis.  She is enjoying partial retirement, doing some traveling, spending more time with her grandchildren and working at her church.
